The Sundarbans is the world’s largest mangrove forest, covering 140,000 hectares. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and a must-visit place. The forest lies where the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna rivers meet, near the Bay of Bengal.
It’s full of rivers, creeks, and small islands. The Sundarbans is famous for its wildlife, including the Royal Bengal Tiger, estuarine crocodiles, Indian pythons, and over 260 bird species.
Planning your trip to the Sundarbans is easy. Here are the best ways to get there:
Option 1: Fly to Dum Dum Airport
If you’re coming by air, you can land at Dum Dum Airport, which is about 85 km from the Sundarbans. We’ll arrange your pick-up and drop-off (total 170 km) if you choose one of our packages.
Option 2: Train to Sealdah or Howrah
Traveling by train? Arrive at Sealdah or Howrah station in Kolkata. From there, you can continue by bus, cab, or with our package service. The Sundarbans is around 180 km from these stations.
Option 3: Local Train to Canning
Want to experience local travel? Take a short train ride from Sealdah to Canning. From Canning, hire a private car or auto to Gosaba (Godkhali). If you book our package, we’ll pick you up from Canning and take care of everything.
